Just another hat I wear

As many of you know, we just recently planted a church with our pastor and many others from our former church.  We are growing at a steady rate (some would say slow, but I see the glass as half full).  My husband is the student ministries pastor.   AND he's over Life Groups.  AND he does all things technical in the sound booth (rotating on various weeks from sound, projector, and lights).  We also host 2 life groups...one for married couples and another for young adults.  Above and beyond all of that, he's a child of God, a husband, a father, a son and a brother.  Oh, and he teaches Spanish and Bible at a local private school.

I am his wife and all that that entails.  I am a mother of 4.  I stay at home and that is where I work...and work HARD, I tell you.  I also work in the nursery.  I make sure that the toddler nursery is taken care of on Sunday mornings...toys, snacks, story time, etc.

Because of all that my husband does on Sunday mornings, we never get to sit together in church.  This morning we got our chance!

There is a guy in our church that helps in the sound booth by running the projector on various weeks.  This was his Sunday.  He had an accident and had to have emergency surgery on his eye.  That left a position that needed to be filled quickly.

I am a stickler when it comes to the projector.  I don't know all of the words to all of the songs.  If a slide is behind, I get frustrated.  It doesn't happen often, but when we first planted this church it occurred a lot.  Well, today was my turn to run the projector.

I was so nervous.  I had judged others before...yes, for myself, but for new people that REALLY don't know the words.  But I had a great teacher...my husband.  I only made one mistake and I fixed it quickly to where most people probably didn't even notice.

I loved sitting next to my husband, too.  I loved working on the huge, Mac desktop.  I loved serving.  Because of my personality, I do not like trying new things because of my fear of failure.  But I got it done.  It seems simple to many.  And it was.  It's just one of the MANY simple tasks that make our church function; and provide an environment for those that don't know Jesus to get to know Jesus.
