Last night we had the youth over to our house for the Superbowl. Which really translates into a social gathering where maybe 6 people are really watching the Superbowl. Some people think that we are bold or crazy to have that many people over. A few weeks ago we had a going-away party over here for a friend. We had probably 60 people in our house. Yes, 60! Cars were parked all down the street, in the empty house's driveway across the street, and triple parked in the cul-de-sac. Anyway, back to my story. Our house can take it.
We tried very hard to get the kids into bed at a decent time. They usually go to bed at 8:30. It was more like 9:15. After the game was over, I was nursing Noah in my room...at 10:15. Both of the kids came into my room. TEN FIFTEEEEEEEEEEN! AAAAAUUUGGGH! I commanded both of them back to bed and to go to sleep.
At 3 a.m. Noah decided that he wasn't tired. I couldn't fully go back to sleep until about 6 a.m. Then that evil alarm clock went off at 6:30 a.m. At that moment I knew that all of us had not had enough sleep. So I let them sleep; because that's the kind of parent that I am. Even though they slept an hour & a half late, they still only got to school 30 minutes late. I'd explain how it worked out, but I don't feel like it. No traffic and no breakfast is involved, but they got to school in time for their snack.
To make life even funner (yes I know "funner" isn't correct, but it sounds funner), my 2 baby boys have colds. There's nothing like getting your house ready for 30 youth to invade while wiping snotty noses and dealing with cranky, demanding babies. But I love 'em and I'd be lost without them.
