Thanksgiving is such a unique holiday. It isn't a religious holiday. It is a holiday that doesn't offend many people when you say, "Happy Thanksgiving", except the occasional Native American. I watched a special about it on the History channel. I thought it was interesting to learn that the Puritans celebrated Thanksgiving, the same way that England celebrated some kind of harvest festival. They celebrated it instead of Christmas because they considered Christmas to be a pagan holiday. I know that there are still people that don't celebrate Christmas because of the same reason. I just find it interesting that the Christianity that was first brought to this nation is totally different than what it started out to be. I don't know the story of all of their other customs and theology. Just a neat fact.
The following are pictures from A's K-5 class performance. Well, K-5 were the Indians and K-3 & K-4 were the turkeys. Very cute Indians and turkeys, I might add.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
