Derrick helped to put up the tent the other day, for the crusade. At one point, he was under the tent, with only himself between the ground and the tent. He breathed in a lot of dirt.
He woke up yesterday morning, coughing. He went on to the tent site again, to help with the second tent. About 3 hours later he calls to tell me that he's on his way home because he has a fever and feels like he has pneumonia.
When he got home, he had a fever of 102.something. I called the doctor and he said that he would come over as soon as he was done with his current appointment. During that time, Derrick's fever climbed up to 104. I called the doctor again. He was on his way, but he said that I could give him some ibuprofen.
The doc came and checked him out. Then he ran to the pharmacy and got Derrick some medicine. One of the meds is a shot. The doctor gave Derrick the first one. Of course, it has to go in the buttocks. The doctor stabbed Derrick so hard, that Derrick jumped off of the bed. But within about 10 minutes, his fever broke and he started sweating. Derrick has to have 2 more shots...one today & one tomorrow. Our team leader, Andy, used to be a nurse. He is kind enough to come over today & tomorrow to administer the shot. Talk about team bonding! Nothing says "I trust you" like allowing someone to give you a shot in the bottom. Also, nothing says "I love you" like giving your friend a shot in the bottom.
It was funny when the doctor came over, because for once, he wasn't needing to check on me. He is the one that we called on when I had vertigo, a sinus infection, and he is going to deliver our baby. He kind of chuckled over that. Like, when I called him, he immediately asked what was wrong with me. Not that I wanted to call him at all because I don't want anyone to be sick, but it was nice to be on the other side of the situation.
I should be homeschooling right now, but I'm not. One plus to homeschooling is that I have a little bit more freedom in my schedule. But given the fact that our daughter just got over her sickness, and Derrick now has his, we haven't been to the grocery store. I was able to buy some stuff from the produce guy yesterday. We are still in need of toilet paper, milk (it's always needed in our house), gatorade (to keep my man hydrated), & tons of other stuff. So I really need to get school done before we have to go to the grocery store, or it won't get completely done. Therefore, I'm off.
P.S. ~ For some reason, blogger won't do my paragraph breaks, so just bear with it.
UPDATE
Instead of Andy making a long trip out to our house, I decided to give Derrick the shot! He said that it didn't hurt, like when the doctor did it. So I'm very happy. This day goes down in history as the first day that I administered a shot!

I hope he gets to feeling better. Ya know you just don't hear about a doctor making house calls anymore. Thats pretty cool.
