Our church body, pastor, elders, etc. all used to be a part of a certain denomination. I'm not sure if I've mention the denomination before, but I'll keep it anonymous this time. We decided to leave the denomination. We are not part of any denomination now, but we are affiliated with the ARC (Association of Related Churches). We are an ARC church. The ARC focuses on church planting, relationships, doing life together, and reaching the unchurched.
This past week the ARC had their annual conference...All Access Twenty Ten. It's a chance to meet other ARC pastors, listen to their church planting stories, hear their frustrations, rejoice in their victories, and worship & fellowship together. Oh, did I mention that Hillsong United lead worship the first night? Oh, and that the pastor of Hillsong Church, Brian Houston, preached? Oh, and that John Maxwell preached on the first night as well? Oh, and that Hillsong United did a concert (aka worship service) after the preaching? I've watched Brian Houston on TV many times and listened to Hillsong United on my iPod more times than I can count. Never in my lifetime did I think that I would see both of them live. And John Maxwell...hilarious and a rich resource of wisdom!
The next 2 days were full of many other speakers. I was able to sit in a break-out session for leading ladies. We had the opportunity to hear some of the pastors' wives/women in ministry share their hearts on being a wife, mother, worship leader, in charge of women's ministry, etc. I left that meeting with a lot of insight and useful advice for the future.
I had a great week with my husband. We needed it. I needed it. I will post more pictures later.
Pastor Brian Houston from Hillsong Church.
JD and the rest of Hillsong United!
